A lot happened last year, and I'm hoping 2016 will be even better. I got sidetracked from trying to get a band together because I fell into some work as an extra in a few movies and three TV series. I ended up having a recurring role in a new series on NBC called Game Of Silence which premieres this coming April on the 7th. Hopefully, I will get to work on that show again in season two when they start back filming. I met a lot of great folks on that set, and they are really fun to work with. So look for me on the little screen this Spring in a few shows. I was also in three movies since this past September. I appeared a couple of different times in one coming out in Nov. of 2016 called "Bastards" with Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, Glenn Close and a lot of other folks. It was hoot getting to work with and meet Owen Wilson. I also got to meet one of my all time favorites, Clint Eastwood, when I played an airline representative in the new Warner Bros movie "Sully", which does not have a release date yet. It should be a great movie directed by Clint, and starring Tom Hanks. It was really an honor to work a couple of days with Hanks, Eastwood, and co-star Aaron Eckhart. I also did a few scenes with Chris Evans, who played Captain America, in a new movie called Gifted. So check them out, and you will see my smiling face, if it didn't get left on the cutting room floor! You never know what 2016 has in store for us all, but whatever it is, I hope everyone has a great year!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/38573002015-09-16T11:14:51-04:002015-09-16T11:14:51-04:00Adventures in AtlantaI am really starting to enjoy living in Atlanta now. I have found some really great musicians to jam with who have made me feel very much at home. I am even entertaining thoughts of getting a little band together. You never know........ :-)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/36272222015-03-27T10:50:14-04:002015-03-27T10:51:18-04:00Spring has sprung .....Well, it is already Spring and 2015 is moving right along. I am taking it slow getting started booking for this year and right now the only thing I have coming up is finding jam sessions to get involved in around the Atlanta area. I am ready to pick some blues with some of these great musicians around here if they will let me. I will be playing a few songs with the Sand Trippers when we reunite for my 50th class reunion in May in ft. Pierce, Fl. I will be playing in and around Atlanta, GA., and around Vero Beach, & Ft. Pierce down in Florida soon. I will be playing 3 shows in Charleston, South Carolina with Kermit this coming weekend to celebrate St Patty's at a place called Your Father's Mustache. should be a real hoot! Much more to come as things develop. Hope to see you all somewhere!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/33432572014-11-30T10:35:51-05:002014-11-30T10:35:51-05:00Yep, it's almost gone.....Well tomorrow is the first of December, and the first day of the last month of the year. It has been a most interesting one to say the least. Hopefully, 2015 will be another interesting one. Life could get pretty boring if it isn't. Here is to looking forward to many exciting new adventures for everyone. May you all have a very Merry Christmas, and a most happy and prosperous New Year!!!!!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/32745882014-11-10T08:18:03-05:002014-11-10T08:18:03-05:00Goodbye to 2014Hello to anyone out there who happens to see this. 2014 is rapidly coming to an end and I just played my last solo job of the year yesterday for a private party in The Villages. I had a great time and met some very nice folks. That is always one of the best rewards from playing music for the public. I have always enjoyed it for many reasons, and I will continue to as long as anyone wants to hear what I have to offer. However, my plans for 2015 do not include looking for places to do my solo act all the time. I still have eight Christmas shows to do before the end of the year at The Orange Blossom Opry. I plan to continue performing there on Thursdays when I can, and when I am the featured act on weekends. Those will be less frequent than they have been for 2014 though. I plan to take a lot of time off to enjoy life, jam with old friends, write more, record more, travel some, and I am even planning on several big changes in my life. More specifics on that as they develop, but I will probably leave Ocala in the process. My family all moved away this past summer, and I am getting the urge to move on to greener pastures myself. I am really looking forward to playing when and where I want to, and to writing with some old and new friends. As the old saying goes, when the curtain falls, time passes, and everything changes.........See you around the next bend in the road.... Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/31269892014-08-08T11:36:35-04:002014-08-08T11:36:35-04:00Infamy?I just got an email last night from Jamie Cunningham who is a PHD and Associate Professor of music at Florida Atlantic University. It had info and links to a book about surfing in Florida that he wrote a chapter for about surf music in Florida. There is a photo and a paragraph on the first of many infamous bands I have been in. The Sand Trippers are noted in Chapter 19 along with a treasure trove of info on other notable florida bands from the 60s until now. The book is filled with photos of the history of surfing in Florida. Here is a link and if you are into music, surfing, and or Florida it is a great addition to any collection. http://upf.com/book.asp?id=AHOXX001Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/31089702014-07-30T23:37:05-04:002023-12-10T13:05:11-05:00Another pageI had a great weekend in Ft. Pierce jamming with a couple of bands of old friends this past weekend. I can't wait for the chance to go back and do it again. Now I am looking forward to turning another page in my Ocala experience. I will be substituting for Rick Whitt of the very popular duo Stranded, and playing at The Mojo Grill in Belleview with Mike Smithson. It will be my first time working with him, and my first time working in a duo here. It should be fun, but it will be quite a challenge to take Rick's place. He is a very fine musician and singer who has been working with Mike for about four years and they are very tight. So I am curious to see how it goes and I feel ready for the challenge. It will be the first job I have had where I will be playing acoustic 12 string guitar and keeping the rhythm going for Mike who is a fantastic guitarist. If you are in the area it should be an interesting night. If you aren't, I will let you know how it goes.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/30074442014-06-10T21:26:10-04:002014-06-10T21:33:48-04:00No more Eaton's BeachWell, it was great while it lasted, but I am no longer going to be playing at Eaton's Beach. It has been eight months and things were getting stale around there. Lots of confusion and double bookings around there lately. So it is on to other things. I am still looking at the possibility of joining Mike Smithson in July for weekend duo gigs. I will be joining them again tomorrow night at Charlie Horse. It has been fun playing with him and he is very talented, so I am looking forward to it. I am also still working with Dean Dillon to put on a couple of big Nashville writers showcases here in Florida this fall. More things cooking in the wings too.......stay tuned ;)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/29865842014-06-02T08:33:54-04:002014-06-02T08:33:54-04:00ForwardThings are moving right along around here. It is now June and I had a good time last week playing with the duo Stranded at Charlie Horse in Ocala. It was a lot of fun and went pretty good. Last Friday I went to Mojo's in Belleview and sat in for a couple of songs with them. Tomorrow when I play at Eaton's Beach, the lead guitar player/singer from Stranded, Mike Smithson, will be playing with me to keep the experiment going. If things keep going forward with this adventure I will be joining Mike for weekend gigs at several Mojo's venues and a few other places substituting as the other half of Stranded starting in July. The actual other member, Rick Whitt, will remain as the other half of Stranded for the rest of their gigs. I also have a couple of other interesting possibilities that have popped up. I have been invited up to Gainesville to investigate the possibility of putting something together with a local guitar teacher who plays lead and sings backup. He is very good and I will most likely be going up there sometime in the next few weeks to see what that amounts to. I have to get past a few other pressing issues before trying that and there is also a very talented bass/guitar player/singer who lives just a few blocks from me who is interested in jamming to see what else might be possible. I am going to go jam with therm all for the fun of it and see what happens. It should be and interesting summer. Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/29767232014-05-28T13:24:52-04:002014-05-28T13:27:24-04:00Turn, turn, turn.....There is a season....... Well, just when I start to get stale doing something and begin to wonder which way to turn next, something comes along to capture my interest. I have been playing a lot at Eaton's Beach ever since they opened almost eight months ago. I have now been delegated to every other Tuesday night which leaves my weekends wide open. So I have been wondering what to do with them. I have lived here in Ocala for about three years, even though I spent most of two years in Atlanta and Mexico up until this past August. That was when I started trying to get back into playing regular. I did not then, and really still don't know many musicians around this area other than those I have met through The Orange Blossom Opry. I have been trying to get out and go to more jams and meet some local pickers lately, and I have even been thinking about getting in a band or a duo, or something different than what I have been doing. It seems an opportunity to do just that has presented itself to me, and I will be investigating that possibility tonight when I go to Charlie Horse here in Ocala to sit in with some guys I have gotten to know recently who seem to be into the same kind of music I play. So we will see what the future may hold..... stay tuned..... to be continued....... ;)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/29596242014-05-20T15:41:01-04:002014-05-20T15:47:09-04:00Pretty day on the lakeWell I am all set up to play at Eaton's Beach and I am just chilling and enjoying a really pretty day here. I don't know how many more gigs I will have here but I am going to enjoy myself while it lasts. Nothing in this word is permanent anyway. I am going to deviate some from my usual Jimmy Buffett, Zac Brown, Bob Marley and the usual beachy tunes and play some blues, Marshall Tucker, Allman Brothers, and maybe even some old Amazing Rhythm Aces. Pure Prarie League and I may even throw in some Stones, Traffic, Skynard, and even some old Danny O'Keefe just for giggles... I am going to bring my midi synth next time and do some for real blues jamming.... It's a good thing I don't drink or do drugs because I would be ready to play some stoned out blues today. :)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/29411812014-05-12T14:18:45-04:002014-05-13T16:24:06-04:00Schedule changeMy schedule has changed at Eaton's Beach Sandbar & Grill. I appreciate the opportunity to be doing this and I hope it is something I can do again occasionally. I will be playing in The Sandbar tomorrow at Eaton"s Beach also so come see me somewhere this weekend!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/28845772014-04-20T11:52:26-04:002014-04-20T11:52:26-04:00Happy Easter! We have been blessed with another day to celebrate our many blessings. Thanks you Lord! I will be playing in Astor this afternoon at The Castaways and I will be there almost every Sunday for a while with the exception of the 4th and 11th of May when I will be at Eaton's Beach on Lake Weir. Hope to see some of you there and I really hope to see some of you at my show this coming Friday at The Orange Blossom Opry. It should be a vey good one with Suzanne Morgan and The Orange Blossom Opry Band. They are the best!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/28321322014-03-31T12:19:43-04:002014-03-31T12:19:43-04:00News:I have been busy with gigs and now I am looking forward to some big shows coming up in the future. The first will be The Bob Melton Show at The Orange Blossom Opry in just a few weeks on April 25th. I hope to see as many of you there as possible. Then I will be working on helping put together a couple of Nashville Legends Songwriter Shows in the fall here in Florida. The venues and cities are yet to be determined, but if these come off as planned, I will be opening for three of the top writers in the business for two shows. More info on this as it develops so stay tuned, or tune in... :)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/27995762014-03-24T10:37:30-04:002017-01-13T14:34:56-05:00Time....editedTime changes everything..... I realize more all the time how fleeting time is, as this world we live in spins out of control. I find it harder to hold on every day. There are getting to be fewer and fewer anchors to grab as they fly by. One thing it all does is remind me that if I am ever going to finish all the songs I have in the works, I better get with it. It is so true that time waits for no man. It is also very true as Einstein said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Just a few thoughts I need to keep in mind as 2014 races on... Won't be long now until Christmas, and then 2015 will be here before you barely have time to blink...so don't .... this photo was 20 years ago and it seems like yesterday......... Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/27394962014-03-13T10:44:41-04:002022-09-01T02:46:32-04:00Too much fun?...Well, I am in the middle of a couple of busy weeks. Starting with this past Saturday I have a string of playing 12 gigs in 14 days. That amounts to six nights a week for two weeks. I haven't done that in many years. I hope my voice makes it through. So far it is okay with four days left before a break. Like they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I love it and have been enjoying every minute of every gig. I always have. Thank you Lord for blessing me with the good fortune, health, and ability to do what I am doing. I have been meeting some really nice folks lately too. I want to thank everyone for their indulgence in my folly.. :)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/27042352014-03-07T01:00:57-05:002014-03-07T01:00:57-05:00Early Friday update..Wednesday was a great day and very productive. The production crew for the Gary Stewart documentary met with us at my girlfriend Judy's 150 year old beautifully restored Florida country home in Weirsdale to film an interview with me for the project. It was a lot of fun and a very relaxed atmosphere for the shoot. Tony and Stu made it go really smooth. Their is a lot of work to be done on this film yet and I will keep you posted on the progress, but it will be something you will want to see when it is done. I just got home a little while ago from doing the Thursday night jam at the Orange Blossom Opry. Things have been really picking up there lately. The last four shows I have been a part of the have been sold out and the Super Jam for next week is almost sold out. I have the day off Friday to catch my breath and go to the dentist. Then I will be up in Astor Sat, Sun, and Monday playing at The Castaways for the bike week up there. Check my schedule on the home page for times. Come enjoy the beautiful weather forecasted for this weekend, and the river, and the food, and the fun, and the music!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/26858022014-03-04T12:11:59-05:002014-03-04T12:11:59-05:00March marches on...March is really coming in like a lion. I just booked this coming Saturday from 2-6, Sunday from 1-5 and Monday from 4-8 at The Castaways Restaurant in Astor, Fl for a big bike week going on there. I also just got through setting up a video interview tomorrow for a new documentary being filmed about Gary Stewart. Lots more things coming up too... :) Stay tuned.......Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/26752462014-03-02T22:13:59-05:002014-03-03T20:20:30-05:00Time March's on..... I had a great time this past weekend going to see my old friend Dean Dillon and his wife Susie. We made some plans to put some shows together sometime soon and I am certainly looking forward to doing that. It was also nice to meet Phil O'Donnell in Grant, Fl. It was another great show at the Opry Thursday and I had a big time playing for the Founders reception at Eaton's Beach on Friday to kick off their official Grand Opening weekend. I was also the first act to ever play there when they opened just over four months ago. My how time flies when you are having fun. I wound up a great weekend playing in the really cool little town of Astor on the St. John's River Saturday night. I played on the deck at a new place that just opened a week ago called The Roost. Really nice folks that run the place and great food. I hope to go back when the weather gets warmer. I also look forward to playing some other places there real soon. I really like the atmosphere of the area. It has a good old Florida feel. I will be doing the Thursday night Opry show again this coming Thursday after I do a video interview on Wednesday for a new documentary being filmed about Gary Stewart. Then I have a rare weekend off to enjoy. I think the weather will be nice and I hope to take advantage it. Not sure what I'll do or where I will go, but it is so nice to be able to be here in Paradise with so many choices close by. I should stay right here at home and do some much needed maintenance on my house, but I think I just may go visit some old friends down in Ft. Pierce or maybe just enjoy some of the local beauty right here among all of these beautiful springs. I have all week to make up my mind....... What I should do...or what I want to do?? .... well, the choice is all mine... I like that... :)
UPDATE: Well, I may not have the weekend off after all.. Looks like I will be heading back up to Astor for the weekend to play at The Castaways right on the St. John's River. I will be posting the times and days Tuesday. I may be there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a big bike rally. Might have to get a little fishing in while I'm there...Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/26493422014-02-26T09:43:53-05:002014-02-26T10:00:44-05:00Long weekend aheadI am hoping to have a great weekend starting tonight when I go to Grant, Fl to The Fish House to see an old friend I once worked and wrote with, Dean Dillon doing a show there. Dean was recently honored by BMI as an industry Icon. This is a huge tribute to the Hall Of Fame songwriter, and well deserved. My big old Stetson goes off to you Dean. Tomorrow night I will be at The Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale, Fl. for the Thursday Jam. On Friday I will be playing in The Sandbar at Eaton's Beach from 5-9pm. Then Saturday I will be venturing over to Astor, Fl to play a new place there called The Roost from 5-9. I hope to see some friends show up there from Cocoa and Palatka, and parts unknown :). It should be a hoot!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/25251732014-02-05T09:09:16-05:002014-02-05T09:10:17-05:00More things coming...Well, I am looking forward to seeing my youngest son Warren and his girl friend Jill this weekend when I am in Statesboro playing for a birthday party with Kermit. I hope to see lots of folks I haven't seen in a while. I am also looking forward to being the featured guest at The Orange Blossom Opry for a Friday night show as soon as we can find an open Friday that will work. I am booked every Friday except one between now and the end of March, so we are shooting for the 28th. I will post that show here when it is set. I hope to see some of you there!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/25033242014-01-31T22:38:42-05:002014-01-31T22:38:42-05:00Back to The 'BoroWell, I got a call from Kermit today and we are going to be playing for our old buddy Aaron Popkin's 50th birthday party next weekend in
Statesboro. Hopefully, I will get the chance to see my kids and my grandson while I'm there. I can't think of anywhere I would rather be to celebrate my birthday than with them. We may be playing a public place on Friday before Aaron's party on Saturday. It will be great to see all the Georgia folks too!! I have been enjoying some great times at Eaton's Beach and it gets better every time I play there. I am getting a good following of really nice folks there. Things are also getting very interesting at The Orange Blossom Opry with it being under new ownership. So I am also looking forward to good times there in the coming year/years as well. I am taking the next couple of weeks off to recuperate from some minor surgery I had last week. I will be doing the Thursday night shows at the Opry though. Just no 4 hour shows until Valentine's Day at Eaton's Beach. I am going to take this time to practice, add more material, and book more gigs for 2014. I have a lot of other interesting things coming up that I will be sharing here as they get closer, but I probably will not be posting my future gigs more than a month ahead here for reasons I may share later. Hope to see you folks somewhere along the road!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/24760892014-01-27T18:33:44-05:002014-01-29T14:07:04-05:00A sad loss... UPDATEDI am really saddened by the passing of Mrs. Estelle Benson, who with her husband Earl owned The Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale, Fl. Many people had different opinions of her, but to me she was a dear friend and I will miss her smile and presence at the Opry greatly. She will be missed by many, many people at the Opry, and in that community. It will be very interesting to see what happens to the Opry without her. She was the driving force behind it and I don't know if Earl will want to keep it going without her. There will be a memorial service there tomorrow night (Tuesday Jan. 28th) at 7 PM. I will have the honor of singing one of her favorite songs during the service that I sang many times at her request along with Opry key board player Dave Howell. She would have had us sing it every week if the band could have stood the repetition. I always dedicated it to her when I did it there over the years, and I will do the same tomorrow. Rest In Peace Estelle. You will be dearly missed.
UPDATE: The service for Estelle last night was very moving and also an excellent inspired musical tribute to celebrate her life. Suzanne Morgan announced at the end of the evening that the Opry has been sold to funeral home owner Roger Beyers. He said a few words to let everyone know that the Opry would go on as it did under Estelle's guidance, and if anything, there would only be improvements made to the venue. So, the show will go on.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/22836942013-12-24T12:51:21-05:002013-12-24T12:55:17-05:00MERRY CHRISTMAS!!I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy & Blessed New Year!! 2013 has been a tumultuos and trying year. So much water over the dam. It doesn't seem like it has only been one year that so many things happened, yet it went so fast. It seems like the years fly faster with each passing. I hope 2014 brings much happiness and many Blessing to everyone out there. I have made so many mistakes along the path of my life, and caused plenty of pain, but I can honestly say that I have not ever intenionally hurt anyone. I am sure I have hurt people, but not on purpose, and I have not chastised those who have been bitter with me. Sometimes that is only a small consolation for causing hurt without meaning to or without being able to help it. It is not always easy to bite your tongue, and words may not break bones, but they do break hearts. I will try to be a better person, and a more compassionate, forgiving and loving person in 2014. I tried in 2013, but sometimes came up a little short. I will keep trying until I get it right, or die trying. I do feel Blessed to have a warm home, food on my table, friends and family in my life, and places to entertain so many wonderful people. May God Bless you all and keep you safe.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/22715282013-12-21T16:49:16-05:002013-12-21T16:49:16-05:00Weekend offI am really making the most of having the whole weekend off before Christmas. It is a great place and you will really enjoy it no matter who you are!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/22400762013-12-16T15:00:05-05:002013-12-16T15:00:05-05:002013 is almost history...I had a wonderful time at Eaton's Beach yesterday. It was chilly and cloudy when I started so there were very few folks on the patio. Those that werre there were a lot of fun though. As the weather got better, so did the crowd. By the time it was time to quit there was a good party crown there ready to get it on, so I played requests for an extra hour for the dancing drunks that were having a big time. It ended up being a great day/night. I will be getting my dates set up for January sometime in the next couple of days before I head north to see my kids and grandson up in Georgia. I will not be playing this weekend, but I will be doing my final show of the year on the Saturday after Christmas at Eaton's Beach. Come out help us celebrate life!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/21971342013-12-09T14:33:24-05:002013-12-09T14:33:24-05:00update on 2014...well, we cn just about write off another trip around the sun. 2013 is almost history and 2014 is waiting around the next bend in the road. I will be working on my clendr for next year, but may not post any dates until after the Holidays. I had a fantastic time at Eaton's Beach yesterday and I am looking forward to be there again this coming Saturday from 2-6. I will also be at The Orange Blossom Opry this coming Thursday for the final Super Jam of 2013. See y'all there!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/21437052013-12-02T10:07:36-05:002013-12-02T19:39:51-05:00Thanksgiving weekend....& on....In spite of all the negative things going on in the world these days, there is still plenty to be thankful for. I won't list all the blessing in my life, but there are many. My kids and grandson top the list. I was not able to be with them this Thanksgiving, but they were in my heart where they always warm me. I am going to make sure I have time to see them for Christmas even though my December is getting busier all the time. I really enjoyed my weekend playing on Lake Weir just outside The Villages, Fl. That is a well kept secret paradise in central Florida. I can't say enough about what a great place the new Eaton's Beach Sandbar & Grill has turned out to be. The owners are the nicest folks I have ever worked for and they run a great place that gets better every time I go there. I played there Friday afternoon/evening from 5-9 and again on Sunday from 1-5. All the folks I continue to meet there are fantastic. I also played for the first time across the lake in Oklawaha at the legendary Gator Joe's that Ma Barker and her gang frequented back in the days before they met their demise at the hands of the FBI just a pistol shot down the beach. There was a really friendly crowd there also and I hope to be playing there more often into 2014. I have a couple other places that I hope to be playing in 2014 that are a little off my beaten path, but should be a lot of fun. More on those later. I do not expect to be playing much, if at all anymore at Cody's in The Villages. It was fun, but a very cramped and uncomfortable place to play on their deck. The crowd was nice, but it was a very indifferent environment, and management has not been the most cooperative or easy to communicate with. So I will not miss them if I do not hear from them again. There are too many great places around here to waste time on ones with vibes like that. So stay tuned. Many new things will be going on in 2014. Hope to see you somewhere along the road!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/20887502013-11-21T08:00:22-05:002013-12-02T09:38:08-05:00Moving right along....I have been busy with lots of doctor and dental appointments the past couple of weeks while my gig schedule has been slower. It may be about to fill back up again soon. I will have have a busy week next week with four nights in a row. Fortunately a couple of them will be short and only two will be four hours. I have several new places I will be booking in the next month or two that are all around the area so stay tuned in case I get something in your neighborhood. It is not on my schedule, but I will be playing for a couple of hours next Saturday (30th) on the deck at Gator Joe's on Lake Weir in Oklawaha. If you see this and make it by, let me know you saw it and I will give you a free CD. I want to see if anyone around here ever reads this :) So come back and check my calendar often as it will be getting fuller soon. Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/20304922013-11-11T21:46:32-05:002013-11-11T21:46:32-05:00Schedule changesWell, I had a great time with friends in Cocoa this past weekend and I am looking forward to a large time at Eaton's Beach this coming Saturday. There will be plenty going on there with a volleyball tournament going on all day on the beach and then I will be playing from 2-6 PM. That is a time change for my show from 6-10 so as not to freeze everybody. I have a couple more changes that are correct on my schedule on the home page. I have added one more show to Thanksgiving weekend at Eaton's Beach also. I will be there Friday the 29th from 5-9 and Sunday Dec. 1st fro 1-5. So come see me at the great new place on Lake Weir!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/20174012013-11-08T22:47:22-05:002013-11-08T22:47:22-05:00Homosassa...Hi folks! Thought I would tell you that all the new photos on my site here are one I took last weekend at Homosassa Springs State Park. It is abeautiful place and it was a perfect day.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/20054402013-11-07T08:11:10-05:002014-01-09T21:30:38-05:00Weekend..Well, the weekend gets started tonight when I play The Orange Blossom tonight after missing the past two weeks. The I will be going to Cocoa Saturday to enjoy some time with friends over there and play at a party with some other folks that I have yet to meet. It should be fun and I am looking forward to a relaxing at the beach for a couple of days in good company.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/19840922013-11-04T12:34:41-05:002013-11-04T12:34:58-05:00More NovemberThe weather has been just fantastic the last week or so and yesterday was perfect. I went to Homosassa state park yesterday with a friend and had a marvelous day after playing the previous three days in a row. I am going to spend the next two weeks just catching up on work around the house and enjoying more of this fall weather. I do have an interview for a documentary movie next week but that and The Orange Blossom Opry are all I will be involved with until the Opry the 14th and then Eaton's Beach on the 16th. Hope y'all enjoy the weather where ever you are!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/19749312013-11-02T07:43:13-04:002013-11-02T07:43:13-04:00November is here!Well, I am two days into my three day marathon of singing four hours a night, and I don't even have a sore throat yet. Haloween at Cody's was a fun night, and last night being the first entertainer to play at Eaton's Beach was really a treat. What a great place and a great atmosphere. The owners, Sue and Randy are the best and the staff is fantastic. The crowd was a ton of fun and wouldn't let me quit playing. It is nice appreciative folks like the ones there that make what I do such a pleasure. Thank you Lord. It is raining this morning here and is supposed to until mid afternoon. It should clear up before my 5-9 show at Cody's Rodhouse in The Villages. Hope to see some of you there for the UGA vs Florida game!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/19534652013-10-30T07:37:09-04:002013-10-30T07:41:18-04:00Halloween weekendWell, I have a very busy weekend ahead before a slow spell. I will be on the deck at Cody's in The Villages tomorrow night from 5-9 for my Halloween party. So come out and win a prize for an outstanding costume!! Then Friday from 6-10 I will be kicking off the entertainment at the Eaton's Beach Bar & Grill on Lake Weir before going back to Cody's on Saturday for a big day of football, peanuts, beer, and music. The rest of Nevember will be rather quiet for me. I will only be playing a couple more times at Eaton's Beach while I take time to reorganize my show, add more songs, and get some rest for my tired voice. Singing four hours a night for several nights in a row can get rough when you are used to three hour shows. That last hour can be a challenge. So this weekend will be a vocal challenge for me. Hope to see y'all somewhere this weekend!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/18922982013-10-21T09:26:13-04:002013-10-21T09:26:13-04:00Opry..I have to go to Zepherhills on Thursday for some heart tests and will most likely be there all day, so I will not be planning on being able to make it to the Orange Blossom Opry that night. Hope to see everyone at Cody's Roadhouse tomorrow and again this coming Friday from 5-9. Then I will be heading for Statesboro, GA early Saturday morning for a show with Kermit. Hope to see y'all somehwere along the way!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/18729702013-10-17T13:15:19-04:002013-10-21T09:21:57-04:00Update..I will no longer be playing at Swampy's in Dunnellon until further notice, if I decide to play there again at all. They have turned out to be somewhat unreliable. They, like most places outside The Villages are having their problems paying for live music. Such a shame. BUT: I will be starting at Eaton's Beach on Friday November the 1st from 6-10, so come out and see me there. I will be there on a regular basis three or four times a month on the weekends. It is a much nicer place with much better food and it is very conveinent to The Villages area. They just spent 3 million bucks building it on two levels with a nice boat ramp with plenty of slips to come in from the lake. So come see me sometime, and as they say, if your down by the lake, drop in!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/17888692013-10-05T07:58:35-04:002013-10-05T07:59:22-04:00Today..Well, the weather is getting prettier every day and today should be perfect here. I will be playing lots of Buffett, Marley, Zac Brown and all your favorites from 5-9 on the deck at Cody's Roadhouse on Lake Sumter in The Villages today. I will even be playing a few of my own orignals and one to remind you to buy your lottery tickets for tonight. Come join the party!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/17391662013-09-29T19:26:01-04:002013-09-29T19:26:01-04:00October is upon ustomorrow will be the last day of September and fall is here. Things will really begin to start picking up for me and I am looking forward to being very busy playing some very enjoyable places. I will also be adding one more in November to make a total of four waterfront restaurant/bars I will be playing regularly. When I add the Orange Blossom Opry to that list it means I should be as busy as I want to be. So I do not plan on trying to add any more places for the time being. I will be kicking off October on the deck at Swampy's in Dunnellon on the banks of The Rainbow River this coming Wednesday the 2nd. I will end the month on the deck at Cody's Roadhouse in The Villages with a Halloween party on the 31st. There will be lots going on between so check my schedule on my home page and come see me somewhere!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/17114302013-09-25T18:48:55-04:002021-08-09T20:37:19-04:00Swampy's Bar & Grill on the Rainbow riverWell, things are starting to shape up for the fall and winter season. I will be posting more upcoming gigs soon, but I just put up my afternoon gig dates for swamp's Bar & Grill on the beautiful Rainbow River in Dunnellon. I will be there every Wednesday from 4-8 on the spacious deck right on the river. This is a place you have to come see and try their outstanding food if you haven't been there already. It is a one of a kind location and venue. Come join me for the view, the food, the cool breeze, the drink specials, and lots of great music. You never know who might show up to sing a tune or two with me.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/16502732013-09-18T13:17:49-04:002013-09-18T13:17:49-04:00Fall is coming...With the end of summer only days away, I am gearing up for what I hope will be a busy Fall. My October calendar is starting to fill up and I still have two more places to book. I can certainly use the work and the money with all the upgrades I am making to my equipment, and all the work I have had to do on my old truck. I will be at Cody's quite a bit during October and I should be in Dunellon a lot as well as on Lake Weir. Should be fun and the weather is getting better all the time. Keep checking my calendar for new dates as I will be rounding out my October dates sometime in the next week. Hope to see you all somewhere along the road!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/16289362013-09-16T07:01:25-04:002013-09-16T07:05:55-04:00Big weekend ahead...This coming weekend will start with the Super Jam at The Orange Blossom Opry on Thursday night in Weirsdale. That is always fun and a great show. Then on Friday I will be in Lake Panasoffkee from 7-10 At The Pier restuarant right on the lake, so come out and have a great dinner and listen to some music. Saturday from 5-9 I will will be picking and grinning on the deck at Cody's Roadhouse right on Lake Sumter at Sumter Landing in The Villages. Come watch some football on the deck, eat lots of peanuts, have a great steak, and hear some of your favorite deck tunes. I will be heading out early Sunday morning for Vero Beach to see lots of old friends and participate in a benefit for the daughter of a very long time friend Craig Bowers. It will be an all day affair with all kinds of things going on. Live music all day, a poker run, auction, raffles, and lots of food and fine folks getting to gether for a great cause. I will be there most of the day and will sing and play a few tunes with Craig's band The Jacks. They are a great band, and so are the many other groups and special guests that will be taking part. Another very long time friend and old time band mate Charlie Cowles will also be there sitting in and playing some really fine music. It will be a really fun day with excellent live entertainment all day so come out and join the crowd at The Longbranch Saloon in Vero Beach. See ya there!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/15656302013-09-07T04:35:29-04:002013-09-07T04:35:29-04:00Gig day / Game day...Well, it is the second Saturday of the college football season and for the second time already this season, I will have very limited access to the one game I want to see. Last week while playing with Kermit in Statesboro from 9-12, we missed most of the UGA/Clemson game which started at 8 PM. Now today, I will be playing at Cody's Roadhouse in The Villages from 5-9 PM on the deck where there is no TV. The UGA/South Carolina game starts at 4:30. If UGA loses today, I will have missed the essence of the season for The Dawgs. A loss today will pretty much dash the hopes of most rational Dawg fans who had hesitantly anticipated a stellar season in spite of a questionable defense. Aaron Murray stayed for his senior year with dreams of guiding his team to some kind of championship...it now seems that may be the only place Murray will be a champion...in his dreams. His record in games against top 15 teams is dismal at best. I won't even go into it. Look it up if you are not aware of his record. I will be hoping it does not rain me out today on the deck at Cody's, I also hope it does not rain on UGA's hopes to salvage some measure of greatness this season. If last Saturday's nixed attempt to win with three chances from 3 yards out ending with a botched field goal to at least tie the score wasn't the defining moment of the 2013 season, today most certainly is. Good luck, and hunker down you hairy Dawgs!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/15371382013-09-02T12:08:00-04:002013-09-02T12:08:00-04:00Labor Day I want to send a big salute out to all the working people in this country who support the half that does not work. It has been a nice weekend for me. I played for a great private party on Lake Weir at Eaton's Beach on Friday night in Florida before heading out for Statesboro, GA early Saturday morning to do a show with Kermit at Loco's after the GSU football game. Everything went real good there until UGA lost to Clemson :( Going to spend a couple of days chilling out with my kids and grandson up in north GA., but have to be back home to play at Cody's Roadhouse at Sumter Landing in The Villages, FL this Saturday. If you are in the area, drop by and say hey!! I will be picking and singing from 5 till 9.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/15004152013-08-28T04:19:16-04:002013-08-28T04:19:16-04:00InterviewHowdy out there in cyberland! If you are browsing my site here, check out the interview I did with Larry Whitler and Robin on local talk radio 1370 AM. The video is posted on the ABOUT page under the photo of me and my parrot... Hope you enjoy it. I should be posting quite a few new gig dates sometime next week. I have a couple that I will post today. Hope to see you all somewhere down the road.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/14658572013-08-23T12:25:00-04:002013-08-23T12:25:00-04:00More happenings..I just talked to another manager who is hiring me to play Wednesdays at Swampy's in Dunellon. This a great place right on the banks of The Rainbow River which is maybe the prettiest river I have seen. The huge deck gets a very nice cool breeze from the spring fed river. What a place!! I can't wait to play on that deck with that incredible view...hope to see y'all there. I will be posting the actual dates and times sometime in the next few days. So come enjoy tubing or canoeing down the river and stopping in for some great food, drinks and live music!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/14406542013-08-20T06:50:00-04:002013-08-20T06:50:00-04:00...and more gigsWell I had a fantastic time last night at Cody's Roadhouse at Sumter Landing in The Villages. I want to thank everyone who came for making it such an awesome night!! It was a really great surprise to see old high school classmates Chuck and Charlotte Hughlett come down from Palatka, Larry and Myrt Brooks come up from Orlando, and Jack O'Conner come up from Mount Dora. It was like a mini-class reunion! It was also great to see my sister Linda and her husband Tom, as well as all the fantastic folks from the Orange Blossom Opry including John Myers, Judy Tremblay, Mona Beach, Al and Linda Blevins, Suzanne and Darell Morgan from the Opry band, and the rest of you! Great to meet the ladies who came over from Lake Panasoffkee too!! Everyone who was there helped make it a huge success. The management loved it and I will be posting a lot more gigs there soon. Thanks again everybody!!!!! Y'all are the best!!!! I will also be playing for a private party next weekend at a new restaurant opening next month on Lake Weir where I will also be playing more dates. More places in The Villages coming up and a really nice place on the Rainbow River too, so come back often!! I hope to see y'all somewhere soon!!! I will also be going up to Statesboro next Saturday to kick off the 24th season of Kermit & Honest Bob's Georgia Southern Eagles football post-game shows. we will be at Loco's starting around 9 PM. So it will be a great to see all the GSU fans next weekend!! GO EAGLES!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/13428392013-08-06T08:55:00-04:002013-08-06T08:55:00-04:00gigs...Howdy!! Sometime in the next few days I will begin posting gig dates for the upcoming snow bird season here in Florida. I will be playing in Lake Panasoffke and hopefully some places around The Villages, as well as over on the east coast and around Ocala, and as always, I will be at The Orange Blossom Opry. When college football begins, I will probably be playing a few gigs at Georgia Southern University with my old sidekick Kermit. If we play there this season, it will be our 24th one... Hope to see you all somewhere down the road!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/12375462013-07-21T14:39:29-04:002013-07-21T14:39:29-04:00Prospecting...I am making a list of place to look for gigs all around central Florida. Some in south and north Florida too and along both coasts. I have quite a few on my list so far and I have played some of them before. If anyone out there reads this and knows of a good place for my solo show, post a comment here and I will check it out. THANKS!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/11163832013-07-12T06:54:53-04:002013-07-12T06:54:53-04:00Rain, rain....Rain, and lots of it lately. It is difficult for me to complain when we have seen so much drought over the past ten years or so. Hopefully the water tables are recovering nicely. Now if we can just do something about not contaminating them. We can thank Monsanto for their contribution to that problem along with contaminating just about everything we eat. I don't want to get started on all that except to say that I admire what just about every country except the USA has done by banning them and burning their crops in the fields. What is wrong with this picture?? I will stop there for now. Anyway, summer is well underway and it has been pretty hot as well as rainy. I have been busy with everything except booking gigs like I had hoped to be doing. I got an acceptable photo of The Sand Trippers together for a book being written by the assistant music director at Florida Atlantic University. It is a book about surfing in Florida. He wanted to feature us in a chapter about Florida surf music and he pointed out that we were the only band during our era of the 60s that actually surfed, well, three of us did anyway. I thought that was rather unique also. I am going to finally get our record digitized for consideration to be included on a Florida surf music CD being produced by Jamie Cunningham, who is also writing the book The Sand Trippers will be in. The other things that have been consuming a lot of my time lately have been contributing to a couple of Gary Stewart projects. One is a documentary that I will be interviewed for, and the other is recounting the years I spent on the road and just being friends with Gary for a dramatic movie also in the works. So my summer will be very busy between the gigs I can manage to fit in. I am really looking forward to playing more as soon as I can. That is what enjoy more than anything these days. Hope to see you somewhere down the road!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/9505502013-06-16T08:16:45-04:002013-06-16T08:16:45-04:00Happy Father's Day!I want to say Happy R.I.P. Father's Day to my dad, and both of my grandfathers. I also want to wish my oldest son Rob a Happy Father's Day too as well as all the fathers everywhere who have or are raising their children!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/8271662013-05-27T15:55:46-04:002013-05-27T15:55:46-04:00Time outI just got back to Ocala from Ft. Pierce playing at the Gary Stewart tribute yesterday. I got to see a lot of folks that I haven't seen in years. It was great to see Gary's daughter Shannon and his sister Genna. I have decided to take a little time off to reorganize my show. I want to start doing a lot more acoustic things with simpler arrangements. I don't know yet how long I will be taking a break, but at least until the end of June. By then I will be anxious to get back to playing somewhere. hope to see you there, where ever it is :-)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/7862932013-05-21T07:54:58-04:002013-05-21T07:54:58-04:00GigsWell, my schedule seems to run out this weekend as far as gigs posted here. I do have more coming and will be posting them soon....I really do need to get it in gear and book more though.. :)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/7733302013-05-19T06:51:21-04:002013-05-19T06:51:21-04:00Another summer...Well, you might as well say summer is here even though it is officially a couple of days away. It actually has been a nice Spring this year, but things are heating up fast around the Sunshine state. And so life goes on...... I had a great time at the Opry this past Thursday and another great time playing for the second year in a row for The Savannah Friends Of Music in Statesboro last week. They do a heck of a job putting on a party! I am looking forward to another fun night at The Orange Blossom Opry this coming Thursday before heading to Ft. Pierce on Friday for the weekend and playing at the big Gary Stewart Tribute on Sunday. Should be a real hoot. I just hope the weather will be nice. Hot is okay. Wet is not :-O Hope to see you there!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/7255602013-05-12T04:10:03-04:002013-05-12T04:10:03-04:00SummerI had a great time yesterday playing with Scott Welcker for The Savannah Friends Of Music annual cookout outside Statesboro. It was a beautiful day for it and the weather was perfect with a nice cool breeze to keep the gnats at bay. This is as hot as summer needs to get. It can stop right here..... but I am on my way back to Ocala today and I'm afraid summer is really starting to heat up down there. Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there who qualifies!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/4213352013-03-21T05:50:00-04:002013-03-21T05:50:00-04:00FALSE COPYRIGHT INFORMATION CORRECTION ~ YOUTUBEI mentioned something in my previous post about this, but I thought I would post the actual information from the BMI licensing website to correct false copyright information listed on youtube in reference to a song uploaded there which I wrote with Ron Coleman and Gary Stewart. Lots of things coming up that I need to get scheduled soon. I will be doing a duet tonight at The Orange Blossom Opry with Suzanne Morgan. We will be doing Whiskey Lullaby. One of my favorite country songs, but maybe the saddest ones too. We did it once before and I am looking forward to dong it tonight. They finally scheduled the Gary Stewart tribute in Ft. Pierce for May 26th. I will be doing some of Gary's songs that he and I wrote and a few of his others with The Easy People. One of the songs I will be doing with them is Honky Tonk Man. It is one that we wrote with Ron Coleman around 1979. There is a video of the song on youtube that omits my name from the writer's credits, however I have a link to the BMI licensing site on my music page here that gives the actual legal writer credits for the song. I just like to keep the facts straight on things relating to royalties and copyrights:) Hope to see you in Statesboro, Ocala, Ft. Pierce, or somewhere farther down the line..Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/3384272013-03-03T04:26:44-05:002013-03-03T04:26:44-05:00VideosWell, I figured out how to upload as many videos as I want to here. I have put about six of them on my music page. They are above the albums and audio tracks. I hope you enjoy them if you stumble across them :)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/3249882013-02-23T06:20:00-05:002013-02-23T06:20:00-05:00Update...Howdy folks! I have some more videos to upload here as soon as I figure out how to get more than one on here at a time. A couple of them are live covers and the others are ones I made from studio cuts. I had a great time in Lake Panasoffkee last night. Don't know when or if I will be going back down there. The economy and gas prices are hurting everyone these days and everything is becoming more difficult for all small businesses. I will not get political here, but something needs to happen to turn this country back in the right direction......soon... :-OBob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/3050042013-02-09T17:55:00-05:002013-02-09T17:55:00-05:00Another year older..In about an hour I will be another year older. Actually I wasn't born until about 9:30 A.M. so I have a few hours left before I put another notch on the pole. It has been a fun year and I am looking forward to an exciting 2013. I plan on doing a lot of picking, traveling and having more fun than last year. I will be leaving early in the morning on a great birthday trip until Wednesday. When I get back I plan on buckling down to the business of setting up my calendar and gigs for the year. I also have some songs I am really looking forward to writing. I have a lot of ideas I have been reflecting on over the past year or two, and it is time to give them life. I am grateful for the inspiration to create again after a dry spell that muddied up my mind for a while. So thank you Lord for another year in Paradise.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/3032112013-02-08T05:15:02-05:002013-02-08T05:15:02-05:00Phil??Well, it looks like old Phil the ground hog is wrong again as a potential record breaking winter storm heads for New England today. Spring has not sprung. :-OBob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2965622013-02-02T07:00:08-05:002013-02-02T07:00:08-05:00Ground Hog DayWell Phil did not see his shadow this morning. That means Spring is here? It is still very cold up north, but it is really feeling like Spring in sunny Florida. Enjoy it while it lasts. :-)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2960722013-02-01T12:25:02-05:002013-02-01T12:25:02-05:00Super BowlThe Super Bowl is this coming Sunday and I just learned an interesting fact about it. There will be 1.32 BILLION chicken wings consumed this weekend. There has to be an appropriate pun for that, but I'm not sure what it is. Hmmmm..... that is enough chicken for everyone to have their own "personal fowl"........ nope..that's not it....... :-)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2914622013-01-28T12:14:34-05:002013-01-28T12:14:34-05:00Date changeIf anyone is paying attention, I have moved my gig at Lake Panasoffkee for Feb 15th back one week to Feb 22nd. Come see me!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2899432013-01-26T10:17:21-05:002013-01-26T10:17:21-05:00Relaxing...I went down to Dunnellon Thursday afternoon and spent the day on the banks of the Rainbow River and the Withlacoochee River. That was the most pleasant and relaxing day I have enjoyed in a long time. The weather was perfect and the peace and quiet was sublime. Thank you Lord for another great day in Paradise :-)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2867972013-01-23T06:22:03-05:002013-01-23T06:22:03-05:00Winter...Well, it sure is getting nasty up north, but the weather is beautiful here in sunny Florida :-D I was visiting my kids and went to a couple of Falcons playoff games in Atlanta and it got kind of cold there, but nothing like what is going on up in the real north. You folks up there have my sympathy and condolences. I heard that it was -20 and lower up in Minnesota the other day. The weather man said he took a glass of water outside and it only took 11 seconds for it to freeze solid! That is WAY too cold for humans, especially ones that are accustomed to the tropics. Well anyway, it is supposed to be absolutely beautiful here in Ocala for the next couple of days. Sunny and highs around 70. I plan to get out and enjoy the weather and some time on these crystal clear rivers around here. Hope it is nice where ever you are out there!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2814062013-01-15T15:10:00-05:002013-01-15T15:10:00-05:002013...we are still here...The new year is now a couple of weeks old. In about 3 weeks I will be another year older. The birthdays are coming faster every year. That's okay though, I am looking forward to a great year. I have plenty of places I plan to go, and plenty of places I am going to play, and lots of things to look forward to. My grandson will be 2 years old in April. I am going to make sure I get to spend plenty of time around Vero Beach and Fort Pierce this year too. I am definately going to be in Ft. Pierce for the Gary Stewart birthday celebration this year. Not sure of the date for that yet, but it is usually the weekend right before Memorial Day. I am looking forward to singing some Gary Stewart songs with The Easy People band. I am going to make sure we do the two songs Gary and I wrote together that he recorded on RCA. It should be a great all around time. I have some shows scheduled in Georgia and lots of them all around Florida to get dates nailed down. I will get them posted sometime :) I hope to see you all somewhere along the road. Take care, and Happy New Year!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2691762012-12-20T06:25:00-05:002012-12-20T06:25:00-05:0012-21-2012 ....tomorrowWell, I wanted to take this opportunity on what many people say is our last day here on this good earth. Tomorrow is supposed to be "The Big One", but I am really not sure according to who. The Mayan and some other calendars point to this date. The Hopi indians, and supposedly even the I Ching all concur....but on what? It will be the beginning of a new 26,500 year universal cycle. Earth and our solar system will be in a very unique alignment with the universe. But will we all be destroyed in a blinding flash, or a 1000 foot wave? I think not. When one day ends, another begins. I have plans for this weekend, and Christmas. I even went so far as to make plans for next year. I guess I am just a wild and crazy guy, but I have even started booking gigs for next year. Now the fiscal cliff is another thing all together... :-)
So MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2637582012-12-09T04:05:00-05:002012-12-09T04:05:00-05:00Hello!!.....MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!Time flies when you are having fun!..... It actually flies these days fun or not. It is almost CHRISTMAS again and another year is almost gone. Wow! Not many gigs for me between now and 2013. Only one show at The Orange Blossom Opry next week. I am going to be very busy doing lots of traveling and visiting between now and the first of the year, so if I don't get back here between now and then, I want to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May all your wishes come true!!!!!!!!!!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2555052012-11-22T04:18:04-05:002012-11-22T04:18:04-05:00HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!Time to stop and thank the Lord for all our many blessings in this world. I will be at the OB Opry for the Super Jams in December and January, but other than those two nights I will not be doing much until January. I hope to spend some time with my kids between now and then as well as taking a couple of nice enjoyable vacations. It was a lot of fun playing At The Pier tonight. I have really enjoyed that palce and I plan to be there at least once a month starting back in January. It was great to see a crowd come down from Stone Crest Country Club in Summerville for my show tonight. I appreciate you folks and look forward to seeing you there again along with all my friends from the Orange Blossom Opry and my new Lake Panasoffkee friends too. So thanks to everyone for your support, and I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!!! See you soon!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2471282012-11-06T07:10:00-05:002012-11-06T07:10:00-05:00No mo 'Boro...Well, it was fun while it lasted, but it looks like another chapter of Kermit & Bob has come to an end. Perhaps this is the last chapter....who knows for sure. We were supposed to play a couple of gigs in Statesboro again this weekend, but that has suddenly changed. Kermit got a new day job which now has his undivided attention so we will not be there. Everything happens for a reason. So now it is time to focus solely on my solo gigs. I have a lot of new things I want to add, so that is probably a good thing. I will be at the Orange Blossom Opry this Thursday, and then at the Super Jam there on the 15th. I will also be playing in Lake Panasoffkee next Saturday night. Hope to see you somewhere. :o)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2460692012-11-04T05:05:56-05:002012-11-04T05:05:56-05:00GSU Saturday nightWell, it had been a while since Kermit and I played after a GSU football game in the 'Boro. Last night at Retriever's was an enjoyable and challenging return to that environment. I sure can't hang in there like I used to, but it was great. I also had the chance to see and hear an old friend Jared Wade at the club across the square after our gig. Jared has a new CD coming out very soon that he just recorded in Nashville that should do very well. He is a really talented local young upcoming country singer/picker/writer that country music fans will be hearing a lot from in the future. Artists like him are the future. I am looking forward to coming back next week for another Saturday night in the 'Boro at Retriever's for GSU Homecoming. I will need all the rest I can get for that adventure. Hope to see you there!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2453682012-11-02T11:31:39-04:002012-11-02T11:31:39-04:00In The 'Boro againWell, I am back in Statesboro for the weekend. Kermit and I will be playing some gigs for GSU Homecoming. It should be quite a hoot. The weather is perfect. Let the games begin. :o)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2381742012-10-22T15:52:01-04:002012-10-22T15:52:01-04:00Back to Georgia...Just got back to Georgia and had a great time, and some fun gigs on my two week stay in Florida. I played five shows while I was there at three different places. I had two great nights in Lake Panasoffkee at a great little place called At The Pier that I hope to return to very often. My next gig there will be Nov. the 17th. I also got to play with a band called Tradition's Children from the 60s in Ft. Pierce at the Dan McCarty Class of '67 reunion. That was a real blast from the past. There are four old friends from the original band that was together at the same time I was in The Sand Trippers. That was quite a treat playing with them. I also did two shows at The Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale. The highlight of those two shows for me was getting to sing a duet with the very talented hostess of the show, Suzanne Morgan. We sang one of my favorite duets of all time, "Whiskey Lullaby" written by Bill Anderson and made famous by Brad Paisley and Alison Krause. I also got to hang out at the beach in Vero for a few days before heading back to Georgia for for another half dozen gigs or more over the next three weeks. Hope to see some of you along the road.......... Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2264872012-10-05T04:40:00-04:002012-10-05T04:40:00-04:00Fun in the sun....I had a great time at The Orange Blossom Opry last night! I finally did a duet with host Suzanne Morgan that we had been threatening to do for a long time. The band did a great job on it, as they do on everything! The song we did was Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Allison Krause. What a beautiful song written by "Whispering" Bill Anderson, but one of the saddest country songs I have ever heard. I am really looking forward to being back next week for the Super Jam. It will the first one I have been able to get there for one in several months.
I will be heading further south tomorrow to play for the grand opening of a new restuarant in Lake Panasoffkee, FL called "At The Pier". It should be a lot of fun. I am going to play a two hour show, or maybe a little longer, without breaks except for nature calls if necessary :) I am looking forward to seeing some old friends and fans from the Opry there.
Then I am going even further south for a couple of weeks of R&R on the ocean in Vero Beach and Ft Pierce. I haven't been there in a good while. I plan on booking some gigs while I am down there and look forward to playing some cool places around that area soon. My calander has gotten pretty full lately so I am into booking for after the first of the year. I will be going lots of new places and revisiting lots of places I have played and want to go back to. I hope to see some of you somewhere along the road!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2203392012-09-26T13:50:00-04:002022-05-31T07:46:27-04:00Back to The 'BoroWell, I will be heading for Statesboro this weekend for a couple of GSU football gigs. We will be back at Chops Friday starting around seven. We had a huge time last time we were there. Then on Saturday we will be at Loco's starting around nine when the game should just about be over. We are looking forward to really big, fun weekend with everyone.
I was scheduled to be doing a writer's night show at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta on Monday night, but I will not be back in time for that show. Hate to miss it, but I will be rescheduling it soon.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2147142012-09-15T14:55:00-04:002012-09-15T14:55:00-04:00Red Clay TheatreI am sure looking forward to my first vist to the Red Clay Theatre in Duluth this Monday for writers night, and the chance to see some old friends I haven't seen since I don't know when along with some I just reconnected with recently from high school. Should be a lot of fun. Hope some more folks from around Atlanta will show up. I will be on around 9:10. They have a full slate of talented writers and it should be great show.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2113552012-09-08T09:40:00-04:002012-09-08T09:40:00-04:00The Pond...Hello out there!... ? I had a great time at The Pond House last night and saw a lot of folks I haven't seen in ages. It was a real hoot. I'll be back there tonight and hope to get my old sidekick Kermit to come over and do a few tunes with me. He and I will be playing after or before several GSU football games this season at Retriever's in Statesboro. I will post those dates as soon as they are confirmed, but we will also probably be back at Chops in the 'Boro on Sept 28th. It looks like a pretty busy schedule is developing for the rest of the year. Hope to see some of you visitors along the way :o)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2102462012-09-06T06:55:00-04:002012-09-06T06:55:00-04:00WeekendHey folks! It was also really great to see all the folks whos showed up. A big time was had by all and Chops did more businees than they ever have before. We will be back there sometime pretty soon. Stay tuned for our upcoming gigs before or after the Georgia Southern home football games. Those will be schedules very soon. The first gome game is next week. Time flies when you ar having fun. :)Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2031092012-08-22T03:55:00-04:002012-08-22T03:55:00-04:00Headed for The 'BoroWell, it really was great to be surprised by some old friends in Dahlonega last week at The Crimson Moon, and I hope to see a lot more old friends this Friday when Kermit and I reunite for our first show in a couple of years. I can't forget all the good folks and old friends I will get to see tomorrow night when I play The Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale, Fl. That will make Friday a long day driving from Ocala to Statesboro and then playing a Happy Hour gig at 6 PM. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone!!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/2011052012-08-17T06:45:00-04:002012-08-17T06:45:00-04:00Crimson MoonI had a great time last night at the writers night at The Crimson Moon in Dahlonega, Georgia doing three of my original songs on acoustic with a young fellow named Brandt jamming along on the conga drum. Kind of different and interesting. It was a real special suprise to see several old friends there that I haven't seen in years, and my youngest son who I hven't seen in a couple of weeks :) I will expand on this more later as well as post some photos and maybe even a video. Just wanted to say how much fun it was and thank everyone who was there for their response and support. Love y'all!!
I have a lot more things coming up and adding more every day. Stay tuned for more upcoming shows all over Florida and Georgia. Getting ready now to head back to Ocala for about a week and a show at the Orange Blossom Opry before reuniting with Kermit for a Kermit & Bob show in Statesboro at Chops on Friday the 24th. GSU football season is here and we will be doing more shows there. This will be our 23rd year of playing before or after those games. So many great memories come back just thinking about it. For the last few years we have even been playing for kids of Alumni we played for when they were at GSU.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/1949692012-07-31T05:55:00-04:002012-07-31T05:55:00-04:00Coming soon..As I mentioned in the post below, I will be playing a writers night show at the Crimson Moon in Dahlonega, Georgia on the 16th of August. I would love to see some friendly faces there if anyone is in the area. That is a very laid back rustic place with a great atmosphere in a beautiful little north Georgia town. I am also going to be playing a writers night show on Oct. 1st at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta. That is a well known great local place for live music in Atlanta. I don't know when yet, but I am also going to be at the Ragamuffin Music Hall in Atlanta very soon before heading back to Florida and The Orange Blossom Opry. Also still looking forward to getting together again with Kermit for some shows in Statesboro, GA during GSU football season. I am ready to get very busy over the next few months playing a lot of new and different places. Hope to see some of you there along the way.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/1927552012-07-24T07:05:00-04:002012-07-24T07:05:00-04:00Summer....It really has been a hot summer ..so far... and it will probably get hotter before it is over. I have been trying to stay as cool as possible. I had a great time at the Orange Blossom Opry last week. It was great to see everyone and all the changes they have made there. I am looking forward to being there again in late August. Football season is getting close and Kermit and I are planning on trying to play some gigs in Statesboro, GA after some of the GSU games for the first time in a couple of years, after not missing a season for 21 years. I am also looking forward to booking more jobs in the north Georgia and Atlanta area real soon. I will be playing in a songwriter's night at the Crimson Moon in Dahlonega, GA on August 16th. I am ready to get back to playing more after a brief setback due to some health issues. Nothing serious, just slowed me down for a while. I hope to see ya'll at the Opry or somewhere else soon!!Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/1860992012-07-04T05:36:37-04:002012-07-04T05:36:37-04:00HAPPY FOURH OF JULY!!!And here is to all the men and women who lived and died to make this country free. Scott and I will be playing for a private party being put on by the Savannah Friends Of Music on Saturday. It should be a lot of fun and we will be having a guest artist sing a few songs with us. Amy Taylor from Statesboro, is an aspiring country singer, picker, and talented writer who does a lot of area shows while spending time in Nashville pitching her many talents when time permits. we are looking forward to meeting her and sharing the stage with her. I believe tickets are available for our show, but I am not sure where. A milestone since he is the only grandchild I have. He sure is a little bundle of joy too. I am now looking forward to watching The Masters on TV while getting prepared for a couple of shows I will be doing in Statesboro, GA on the 14th of this month with my old friend Scott Welcker. We used to play gigs together several years ago and I am looking forward to doing these shows with him. It should be a lot of fun, and afterall, that is what it is really supposed to be about. It will be great to see a lot of old friends that I haven't seen in a couple of years also. We will be playing at Crabby Joe's on Hwy 301 at 9PM Saturday night on the 14th, so if you happen to be in the neighborhood, come by and have a drink or two, some good food, and some different live music than what you have been used to hearing for a while. I hope to be booking some more gigs around The 'Boro soon so if you can't make it stay tuned and I hope to be back for more.Bob Meltontag:bobmelton.com,2005:Post/1538222012-04-02T13:59:34-04:002012-04-02T13:59:34-04:00For StartersThis will be where I ramble on about anything that comes to mind or read what anyone else feels like rambling on about. Music, life, love, winning, losing or anything else that moves you to post here. You can even feel free to vent your frustrations with life here if you would like to. I do not wish to get into political or religious topics here though. Any other frustrations are fair game. I have a lot of opinions and theories myself about many different things from the origins of the Great Pyramid to aliens and UFOs to Bigfoot and the Chupacabre, the Yeti, the Bermuda Triangle, the Swamp Ape, Lizard Man, Moth Man, and the Coral Castle. Did I leave any out? If I did, I probably have opinions on that too. :o)Bob Melton
